2022 Sauvignon Blanc, Rutherford
Lifted and refreshing aromas leap from the glass, revealing notes of apricot, Marcona almond, jasmine, and creamy citrus notes tinged with vanilla. Beautifully round on entry and layered with pure fruit flavors redolent of yellow apple, pear, and ripe peach, with nuances of apricot cream and honeysuckle, all framed by rich textures, satiny tannins, and elegant baking spices from fermentation and aging in oak. All this is supported by zesty, mouthwatering acidity, which carries through on a long, mineral-driven finish.
93 Points - The Tasting Panel, Meridith May ~ This is distinctive in the context of current Napa Sauvignon Blancs by its unapologetic embrace of the herbal and grassy character that this variety often shows if not tamped down. Nearly pungent in these respects immediately after the cork is pulled, it then shows some softer tropical fruit notes in addition to classic lime and lemon flavors. This offers a rather wild ride, which is welcome amidst so many domesticated renditions of the grape.
